So here are the character notes from my DDD app, just in case you wanted to have a read.

History:
History is something the Doctor has a lot of - 907 years of it in fact. A Time Lord born on the planet Gallifrey, the Doctor was only eight years old when he was taken from his family to study at the academy. This happened with all Time Lord children of that age; they would spend centuries at the academy learning science and all sorts of complicated things that we wouldn't understand, and it was at the academy that the young Doctor first met his friend Koschei, who would later become known as the Master, one of his greatest enemies. Initiation into the academy involved looking into the Untempered Schism - a break in the fabric of reality where one could see straight into the space-time continuum. The children would all have different reactions to seeing this - "Some would be inspired, some would run away, and some would go mad." The Doctor himself ran, and still is. Through a series of unknown events later in his life, the Doctor managed to steal a type 40 TARDIS (one of the older models which eventually got stuck disguised as a 1960s British police box) and left Gallifrey, with all of time and space to explore.

Fast forward several centuries and the Doctor has now regenerated into his eleventh incarnation - more on regeneration later. The Doctor had travelled to countless planets and has seen many wondrous and terrible things on his long journey. He also picked up a habit of bringing companions with him, almost all of them being human funnily enough. He had many adventures with his companions exploring galaxies, saving worlds and generally defeating evil, but one of the most significant events during his life so far was the Last Great Time War. The Doctor joined his fellow Timelords in the war against the Daleks during his eighth incarnation and played a pivotal role in ending the war. The end though, came at a terrible cost - the destruction of his home planet and the death of all of the Timelords other than himself and as he later discovered, the Master. The war was time-locked, so even with the TARDIS there was no way of going back to change things. The loss hit the Doctor hard and he carried much of his guilt and anger into his ninth incarnation. It was during this time however, that he met Rose Tyler. Rose stopped the Doctor from giving into his darker side, and she was also probably the only woman the Doctor fell in love with. In a confrontation with the Daleks - one of the Doctor’s greatest enemies, she risked her life to save the Doctor’s and in return he saved hers; resulting in the Doctors regeneration into his tenth body.

The Doctor continued to travel with Rose but soon lost her. While helping to save the world she was transported to an alternate reality, though alive and well there was no way back. The TARDIS, as advanced as it was, could not travel between alternate realities, not without risks anyway. Again the Doctor was hit by another emotional loss, but eventually took on two more companions while recovering from it - Martha Jones and then later, Donna Noble who both helped him save the universe (again). He was soon left alone again however, Martha leaving him to continue her own life and Donna was left by him to save hers.

Late into his tenth incarnation, the Doctor once again met the Master, the second time since after the Time War. Their meeting was marked by the almost return of the Timelords who were able to break free from the time-lock. Unfortunately, they were not as friendly as they used to be. The broken time-lock meant that all of the horrors of the war would be released and the end of time itself. The Doctor manages to sever the link keeping the Timelords there and the Master manages to save the Doctor from the Lord President of Timelords. The Master disappears along with the Timelords however, yet another loss for the Doctor who had a kind of love-hate relationship with the Master; they were once childhood friends but through a twist of fate ended up as enemies and the last of their race. He didn't have much time to think about this though. Subjecting himself to a lethal dose of radiation to save Donna Noble’s grandfather, he had just enough time to say his farewells before returning to the TARDIS for his most recent regeneration - an unusually violent one which caused the TARDIS to crash land into the garden of little seven year-old Amelia Pond.

Impressed with her maturity and calm demeanour for one so young in the face of a strange man from a strange box, the Doctor decides to help to help Amelia with her problem - a scary crack in her bedroom wall. The crack was a rip in the fabric of reality and through it, a dangerous alien - Prisoner 0 had escaped. Before the Doctor could do anything however, he had to return to a critically damaged TARDIS. Vowing to return soon, the Doctor disappeared only to re-appear twelve years later. After an initial heated confrontation with an older nineteen year-old Amy, they manage to get Prisoner 0 re-captured, narrowly saving the Earth from being boiled by the prisoner's captors. He even gave them a telling off. And so the Earth was once again saved and the Doctor gained Amy as a new companion.

Together the Doctor and Amy travelled, meeting new faces and also a few old ones, one of them being River Song - a woman who plays an important role in the Doctor’s past and future but since time travel is involved here, they keep meeting in the wrong order. The Doctor also picks up Rory - Amy’s fiancé as a companion, mainly to keep Amy’s attention on him and not the Doctor. He also notices the cracks, just like the one from Amy’s bedroom wall spread across the whole universe with mentions of “the silence”. It could only be caused by a huge, universe cracking explosion, and after finding a piece of the TARDIS inside one of these cracks, it appeared that a certain exploding blue box was the cause. Thinking that the Doctor was going to somehow destroy the universe, just about all of his enemies formed an alliance. They used Amy’s own memories to lure the Doctor into a trap, a trap which ended up with him locked inside a prison designed just for him - the Pandorica. He manages to escape of course but not before an unknown force causes the TARDIS explode, resulting in everything in all universes to slowly disappear from existence. With only the Earth remaining, the Doctor manages to reboot the universe with Big Bang 2.0, but erasing himself from the universe in the process. Amy brings him back though by remembering him, which was made possible since she slept near a crack in time and space when she was little. And that more or less brings us to the present (relatively speaking). All is well again, Amy and Rory are married and the Doctor takes them on an intergalactic honeymoon. But Timelord is still left wondering who or what caused his TARDIS to explode.

I’ll be taking this Doctor from after series 5 and “A Christmas Carol” (he’ll still be taking Amy and Rory on their honeymoon somewhere) and progress through series 6 canon after it airs.

Personality:
Eleven is usually a lively and enthusiastic person, especially when there’s something interesting nearby or when he’s showing the wonders of the universe to his companions. He is good-natured and kind, always helping others when possible and tries to bring out the best in people. He also has a more serious side and a strong sense of justice, of what’s right and what’s wrong. He despises violence of any kind and refuses to use weapons in any of his plans if it involves using them against others. When something bad is happening, he will do what he can to fix it; showing leadership qualities and acting with an air of authority. When he gets all serious (usually when lives are at stake), he’ll take into account less of what people feel and concentrate solely on how to save the day, usually telling them to be quiet while he’s thinking and not even hesitating to tell someone that they’re dying. In this state, he’ll usually be thinking out loud and more often than not, be fiddling with some random nearby object.

Eleven is less in touch with his human side than his previous incarnation, and appears obviously alien (or very eccentric) to those he meets and he’s not afraid to show it. He finds it hard to act like a normal human should, so in difficult social situations he is generally clueless, for example being unaware of someone trying to seduce him or being unable to comfort someone in depression. This also means he sometimes shows less tact than a normal human - telling someone you kissed their fiancé at their stag party is generally not a good idea.

As with his tenth incarnation, Eleven shows a lot of fondness towards humans though probably not as much as before, occasionally making fun of them with a passing comment. This is because Eleven is slightly more arrogant; he’s very confident of his abilities and enjoys showing off, already making two speeches to his enemies basically saying “don’t mess with me”. This is also why he was annoyed with River Song, because she knows more about the Doctor’s future than he does.

He still retains some of his survivor’s guilt from the Last Great Time War, finding it difficult to talk about the subject and usually avoiding it all together, however he seems to have made some peace with himself, referring to it as just a “bad day” when “bad stuff” happened. He wants to forget about it all, but he doesn’t forget because of the things he does everyday - him saving and helping people around the universe has become more than something he does from his good nature, it’s his way of dealing with what happened in the war.

Biology:
Timelord’s look very human-like but their biology is very different. Firstly, they have two hearts and while they can stay alive with only one heart functioning for a certain amount time, they need two working to survive. They also possess telepathic abilities which were usually used to communicate with each other but they were also able to read the minds of other species, even animals such as cats. They could also project their own thoughts and to a certain degree, manipulate the minds of others through hypnosis. Their brainpower is also significantly higher and they are able to remember the smallest of details of past events.

Possibly a Timelord’s most useful ability is regeneration. To avoid dying, they were able to regenerate themselves into a new body and new face, healing them completely in the process. While their memories remain intact and technically they’re the same person, the Timelord’s personality undergoes a sometimes drastic change - their values, beliefs and everything that affected them from past experiences stays, but they’re re-born with a new set of personality traits so in some ways they are a different person.

Quirks, habits, etc:
• Fond of his legs
• Loves using his hands
• Loves to dance at weddings. Exhibit A: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8SrX5jV5ik

First Person (video entry):
[You see a circle of bright green light moving rapidly around the screen, filling most of it up and accompanied by the sound of a certain sonic screwdriver at work. The light soon disappears to reveal the Doctor, holding his sonic screwdriver at eye level and examining its readings, his forehead wrinkled in concentration.]

Now that’s interesting. Some sort of autonomous software agent, a mutating algorithm linked to several planetary systems and aha! Multiple universes, no wonder the TARDIS has been making those noises. Ahhh but you’re clever, not letting me scan you properly are you?

[He looks back at the screen now moving closer, eyes darting left to right as if reading.]

And who’re all these people? Colourful bunch I have to say and you’re all communicating with this....Drama Drama Duck. Well now I have seen everything, no wait not everything that’s ridiculous. Right! This light means the camera’s on which means you’re recording me and that means I haven’t been talking to myself for the past thirty seconds.

[He takes a step back, adjusting his bow tie]

Hello, I’m the Doctor. So, who are all of you people and what, exactly do you do on this Drama Drama Duck? Cool name by the way.
[Voice]
You’re probably wondering why this message is in Old High Gallifreyan. Well, it’s because I have a hunch. I think that whoever, or whatever was able to override my TARDIS controls will be able to understand this.....and I’m usually right about these things. I know what you did, I checked. Every program, every loose wiring, if there was a real malfunction, trust me, I’d have found it. Now, what I want to know is - why did you do it? Exploding the TARDIS like that would have ended the universe - every, single, living creature would have vanished from existence and you thought I wouldn’t be able to stop it? Well think again, because whatever you’re planning next - I’ll stop you. Anything that threatens the universe is in my way and that, is a place you don’t want to be.

Third Person:
The Doctor was sat on a park bench, legs crossed and looking relaxed. Early 21st century Earth wasn’t exactly the most exciting of places to be, but he’d occasionally stop by. He watched as several small groups of children walked past with their mothers, some of them running off ahead laughing and shouting. Of course, it was about time school finished. The scene brought back memories, old memories from the dusty parts of his mind that were usually left untouched, but never forgotten. Some of the children looked over in his direction and he smiled at them. Impressed with the bow tie no doubt. He suddenly felt old, very old indeed as he remembered his own childhood all that time ago, a time when he still had a place to call home. Home. The word seemed so alien to him now and while he considered the TARDIS to be like a second home of sorts, it just wasn’t the same as Gallifrey. The Doctor’s face darkened as his thoughts turned to the Time War. He wanted to go back and fix it, to make everything better but he knew it was impossible. He would just have to be content with fixing everything else in the universe.

The Doctor looked up as he heard the approaching voices of Amy and Rory. They were both carrying a rather large amount of shopping bags. “Honestly Rory, you should’ve just borrowed some of my clothes you know” said the Doctor, getting up. “Erm, yeah I don’t think that would work out to be honest” replied Rory, eyeing the Doctor’s tweed jacket. The Doctor grinned in reply, then clapped and rubbed his hands together. “Right! Mr and Mrs Pond, shall we continue your honeymoon?”
